Country Music - Ty Herndon
Ty Herndon was born in Butler, Alabama, on May 2, 1962. Singing in church and at home with his family, Herndon left for Nashville to pursue his dream of being a country music star. Belmont University awarded him a scholarship, and he played occasionally throughout the 80's at the Opryland Theme Park. Ty competed in the television show Star Search, earning prizes, but failed to win. After suffering a bad management deal in Nashville, he moved to play in clubs in Texas and was named Texas Entertainer of the Year in 1993. Nashville noticed, and Herndon was signed to Epic Records. "What Mattered Most", his first single reached number one on the charts in 1995. Problems with the law presented themselves, and Herndon was charged with possession of narcotics indecent exposure in Fort Worth, Texas, for allegedly masturbating in front of a police officer. Ty's music career strived, however, and he scored another No. 1 hit in 1996 with "Living in a Moment". His next CD released another hit "It Must Be Love". Herndon was named the Best New Artist at the Country Radio Music Awards in 1995. "What Mattered Most" was named the Music Row Song of the Year in 1996.
